Movie Marathon Challenge #6

I’ve decided to start an animated film marathon, I’ve listed all animation movies I haven’t seen in all these years (from 80’/70’ until today) and I’ve decided to watch one of them every week, purely casual (because sometimes best movies can be unnoticed ones too). I will draw a picture and write a short description of every movie I will watch, to build a small (and subjective) anthology.. IF YOU WANT TO SUGGEST ME ANY ANIMATED MOVIE I COULD HAVE FORGOTTEN PLEASE LET ME KNOW! :)
So, now that the summary is done, let’s start with my personal thoughts about this movie, today we talk about “Nine”.
This movie really upset me. I wasn’t expecting something like this. I mean, the story was really dark, more than other Tim Burton’s creations. The scenes when the soul of the numbers was taken away really freaked me out!
The characters were really cool, everyone was different from each other and had his own personality. The evil machine was something terrifying and it made me think about all the mistakes the world is doing nowadays.
I was really surprised about the end, because I was sure that the other numbers would have come back to life, and not simply die and fly into the sky. But it was good (even if I had a really bad sensation during that scene).
The only thing I didn’t like was the too predictable survivors. As soon as I realized that all the other numbers were died, I wasn’t very surprised that (obviously) the survivors were the protagonist, the only girl (who had a mutual crush on him) and the twins (the cute ones).
In conclusion, I can’t say if I like this movie or not. I got really a bunch of different conflicting feelings.
I would really like to hear your opinion about this.

Movie Marathon Challenge #5

So, now that the summary is done, let’s start with my personal thoughts about this movie, today we talk about “Cats don’t dance”.

I didn’t even know the existence of this animated movie until I saw some pictures on Tumblr, that’s why I decided to watch it. It’s a 1997 movie, and I have to say that I pretty enjoyed the story.
The beginning of the movie was amazing, I really loved how the artists’ names were arranged in the landscape, while Danny the cat was traveling on his way to Hollywood. I also really enjoyed the lively attitude of the protagonist, always happy and selfconfident, even if a little naive.
The villain was a very strong character, and perfectly suited the idea of the little girl who got everything but still wants to have everything.
The only thing I found strange was all the story around “animal actors”, but hey, that’s typical of Warner Bros, so it’s perfectly normal! Another thing I didn’t like was the incredible faith the animals had towards Danny, but if I think about the situation, who wouldn’t adore a naive and cute personality like Danny’s? The most significant sentence he said made me think: I just want to do what I like. Doesn’t everyone?
The ending was quite predictable, but different of how I thought, and I liked it for this.
